Welcome to Passdown. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our digital inheritance management platform and services.

By accessing or using Passdown, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use our service.

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account and using Passdown, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Service Description

Passdown provides a secure platform for storing encrypted documents and credentials that can be accessed by designated beneficiaries. Our service uses zero-knowledge encryption, meaning we never have access to your unencrypted data.

The service includes features such as document encryption, beneficiary management, access delay controls, and email notifications. You will use two separate credentials: a login password (for account access, can be reset) and a master key (for document encryption, cannot be reset or recovered).

User Responsibilities

• You must be at least 18 years old to use this service
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of both your login password AND your master key
• You must provide accurate and up-to-date information
• You are responsible for all activities under your account
• You must securely store and share beneficiary credentials (QR codes and passwords)
• You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You agree to:

• Use strong, unique credentials for both your login password and master key
• Keep both credentials confidential and not share them with anyone
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
• Store beneficiary QR codes in a secure physical location

Prohibited Uses

• Using the service for any illegal purposes
• Attempting to bypass our security measures
• Uploading malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Interfering with the proper functioning of the service
• Using the service to store illegal content

Intellectual Property

The Passdown platform, including its design, code, and features, is owned by Passdown and protected by intellectual property laws.

You retain all rights to your encrypted content. By using our service, you grant us only the rights necessary to provide the service (storing encrypted data).

Limitation of Liability

Passdown is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We strive to provide a secure and reliable service, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We are not liable for any loss of data, profits, or other damages arising from your use of the service. Due to our zero-knowledge architecture, we cannot recover lost master keys or decrypt data on your behalf. Your login password can be reset, but your master key cannot.

Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, all your data will be permanently deleted.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in prohibited activities.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through a notice on our website. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Passdown operates. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
